Guardas de Miramar - Luanda/Angola 2018
According to various studies and statistics, Luanda, the capital of Angola, is considered the most expensive city in the world, as far as the cost of living for foreigners is concerned. 90 percent of the local population live on less than $1 a day.
In Miramar, a district with a colonial past, live many foreigners, but also the Angolan elite; behind high walls with barbed wire and broken glass. They are protected by a whole armada of security guards who sit in front of the buildings for 24 hours and keep watch. They are all united by their past as soldiers on different sides during the Civil War.
